Notes:
Written and directed by Georges Méliès, who made over 500 films between 1896-1913. He was an early pioneer of special effects using stop-motion, and he was also the first filmmaker to use techniques such as the fade-in, the fade-out, and the dissolve to create the first real narrative films. Conquest of the North Pole is based on the Jules Verne novel. This is a restored copy by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, IA; current owner of Blackhawk’s catalog calls it “a very much abridged version.”
