Notes:
Contemporary journal review says it was meant primarily for teachers, and comments upon it quite positively, calling it “extraordinary, dramatic and poignant,” a recording of spontaneous activity in a classroom led by an excellent teacher. The teacher is particularly praised for being able to accept and handle insubordination from students (which the review treats as a moment in which the students learn she is “in fact, real and human”).
