Harold T. Friermood, the “Grandfather of Volleyball”, is known as the person who brought volleyball to the Olympics. He served as the Associate Physical Director for the Chicago and Dayton (OH) YMCAs. He was the Director of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports on the national staff from 1943 to 1968.
